Baader CDP counterweights are made of solid stainless steel, with a pressed-in aluminium insert for using the weights with shafts from 40 to 56 mm in diameter.
The standard counterweights come with a mounting hole diameter of 40mm. Mounting holes up to 56 mm are also possible on request and at an additional cost. (Simply ask us for the price for the hole size you require!)
Stainless steel always has a little surface roughness, but the advantage is that its surface does not degrade, does not have to be painted or coated and can withstand scratches and dents without becoming unsightly.
With weights made of steel, the locking screw thread often rusts after a while, especially if the mount remains outdoors. A counterweight made of solid V2A stainless steel will not degrade or even rust even in sensitive areas such as this.
CDP stands for 'Camera Docking Port'. Each weight has a slightly protruding area with a diameter of 47mm that has a 0.25" threaded hole (photo thread) for attaching a tripod ball-head or a 'Witty1' head as tangential assembly.
Clamping of the weight for quick balancing is via a knurled hand-wheel. Additionally, a recessed Allen socket is accessible in the centre of the hand-wheel, which can be fully tightened with an Hex key.

Note: V2A weights are only available in connection with the purchase of a GM ALT or AstroPhysics mount!
