The advantages at a glance:
- Harmonic drive technology
- Load capacity of up to 20kg with a mount weight of only 6.2kg
- Tried-and-tested iOptron Go2Nova software with hand-held controls and a database containing 212,000 objects
- No tangled cables
- Dual Vixen & Losmandy mounting saddle
- Automatic stopping if the power supply is interrupted unexpectedly
- Exceptional tracking, even without guiding
The iOptron HEM44 mounts provide the excellent features of a “large” equatorial mount and, due to “Harmonic Drive” technology, can be used without counterweights/a counterweight shaft. Despite its low weight of only 6.2kg, it has a maximum load capacity of up to 20kg. This gives HEM mounts an exceptional weight-to-load ratio as well as having amazing features such as permanent periodic error correction (PEC), automatic mount stopping in the case of power outages with no need to repeat set-up after starting up again, precise tracking (even without guiding), internal cable management, a dual mounting rail clamp for Vixen and Losmandy rails, high-quality CNC machined and anodised materials, tried-and-tested iOptron Go2Nova 8409 software, built-in WiFi, and iOptron’s trademark exceptionally quiet drive.

Please read the Quick Setup Guide (QSG) BEFORE setting up and operating the mount! Please also read the full online instruction manual for details. A HEM mount has an internal cable management system. To avoid cable damage, a mechanical stopper is implemented on the RA-axis in order to prevent rotation of more than 360 degrees. Due to the powerful torque of the strain wave gear in these mounts, damage to the stopper may occur, if
1.) “Site and Time” are incorrectly set and 2.) The mount is started from an incorrect Zero Position. Please perform these steps when initiating the HEM mount: “MENU => Zero Position => Searching Zero Position” in order to establish Zero Position. Then manually slew the mount past the meridian by 20 degrees.
