Seben's set of 4 Colour Filters (Orange, Dark Blue, Light Green, Grey)
Explore a world of details with Seben's colour filters!
Observations of the Moon and other planets can hardly be imagined without Seben's colour filters anymore. Yet not visible details become perceptible because of the increased contrast and improved resolution.
Due to the dimming effect of Seben's grey filter (13% transmission) bright and/or reflecting celestial objects like the moon can be observed with sharper contrast. Transmission is reduced to 13% so that the Moon's glare is reduced by 87%. This decrease in transmission is necessary, because the eye can't handle so much brightness. The picture would appear unpleasantly bright without Seben's grey filter. This effect of glare reduction is comparable with the effect of wearing sunglasses on a sunny day.
Seben's colour filters (orange, dark blue, light green) bring out clearly more details and lead to an improved perception. They allow the transmission of their own colour (wavelength of light) while absorbing complementary colours. This results in a darkening of the complementary colour and a lightening of their own colour, thus highly increasing contrast. Neighbouring areas with similar colours can now be distinguished more easily, because the edge-details become sharper. This reduction of dominant colours leads to a great discovery of hidden details! For observations of Mars a green filter would be the best choice for instance.
To observe with or without Seben's colour filters makes a huge difference and is decisive for the perception of certain details at all!
Seben's colour filters can be used stacked, because they are outfitted with a thread on both sides. The combination of Seben's colour filters with the grey colour filters guarantees particularly beautiful results, because it unites the effect of glare reduction with enhanced contrast.
Seben's colour filters are dyed in the mass and made from the purest crown optical glass. Of course they also feature an anti-reflection coating on both sides. Their clear aperture of 26mm is compared to many other filters extreme large, because they are mounted in a very thin metal cell. Seben's colour filters can be used with all 31.7mm (1.25“) eyepieces. Each of Seben's colour filters will be supplied with its own padded receptacle for a secure long-term storage.
This set of Seben's colour filters is ideally suitable as starter-package, which enables you the filtration of the most important objects in our solar system!
Orange
Due to the absorption of blue-greenish colours it is especially suitable for the observation of orange-yellowish surface structures on Mars. It also increases the perceptibility of details in Jupiter's and Saturn's belts and polar regions.
Dark Blue
Blocks transmission of orange and red almost completely. Is especially suitable for the observation of Jupiter's Great Red Spot and its reddish belts. It brings out details of Saturn's ring system. In greater apertures it even brings out cloud details on Venus. Can also be used to observe dust storms on Mars.
Light Green
A popular filter for the observation of the Martian polar ice caps and yellowish dust storms on Mars surface. Also great for observations of the moon. The contrast of the red and blue regions in Jupiter's atmosphere will be enhanced.
Grey
Ideally suitable for the observation of the moon as well as other bright planets and reflecting celestial objects like double stars. Great results can also be reached in combination with other coloured filters.
