The wedge is mounted between the tripod and mount, or tracking unit. This allows the mount to be aligned equatorially so that the tracking axis is then parallel to the Earth's axis.
Using the DX fine-tuning unity, you can make delicate movements in all directions in order to reach an exact polar alignment.
On top of the fine tuner is a quick-release fastener which is compatible with the Vixen quick-change angle plate or the Arca Swiss System. This can be used to quickly mount or remove your Star Tracker.
An optional dovetail rail installation block is available for versatile use.
Thanks to two M8 threaded holes 35mm apart on the top, the quick-release clamps can be exchanged for the separately available dovetail rail installation block.
This enables telescopes or heavy telephoto lenses such as the Vixen FL55SS telescope to be mounted.. The DX fine-tuner is equipped with a 1/4 or 3/8 inch thread, making it compatible with all current tripods.
This tripod adapter can be swapped for a Vixen tripod adapter to enable the fine-tuner to be attached to a sturdy Vixen telescope tripod.
The DX fine-tuner makes a large range of adjustments possible, from -30 degrees to 90 degrees and 360 in the azimuth.
The mounted camera can be manually tipped from 0 degrees (horizontal) to 90 degrees (vertical) by releasing the clamping levers. Fine adjustments can be made within a range of +/- 7.5 degrees.
