The LS60MT is a telescope for solar observation in H-alpha light. The H-alpha filter has a clear aperture of 60mm with no central obstruction. This produces an especially clear image. The lens can reach its full resolution potential!
In H-alpha light, solar prominences are visible at the edge of the Sun, as well as filaments and flares on its surface. Observing the Sun in H-alpha is always impressive and varied! The integrated etalon filter achieves a half width of less than 0.7 Angstrom.
This Lunt all-rounder telescope's particular strength is its modular construction... You can simply detach the red-painted H-alpha etalon and replace it with a separately available conversion kit. Then you have a high-quality ED apo with FPL-51 special glass at your disposal for night observation and astrophotography. After converting it, you can also observe the Sun in white light by using a Herschel wedge. It is also possible to use a CaK module for observing the Sun in this spectral line - a truly universal telescope!
The connection between eyepiece and camera: The block filter is built into the deflection optics which is compulsory for solar observation! This filter takes eyepieces or cameras with 1.25” sockets, but also has a T2 thread. The blocking filter is not required for nocturnal observation. The focuser can hold the zenith mirror or other accessories with 2” sockets.
PT pressure tuner: Fine-tuning on the Etalon filter is provided via an air pressure system. A small change to air pressure within a pressure chamber inside the telescope changes the refractive index of the air, resulting in precise yet effortless adjustment to the H-alpha spectral line. The pressure tuner guarantees a uniform image with no central obstructions and a long-lasting wear-resistant etalon.
