With the T2 photo ring, you can replace the rubber eyeguard by a T2 connector that is directly attached to the eyepiece. You may then attach your SLR camera (via an optional T2 ring) directly to the eyepiece. Users of compact digital cameras with fixed objectives find additional adapters at "accessories" to adapt their individual model to the eyepiece and shoot great photos of the moon or the planets.
The special advantage - there is no shorter T2 connection:
With the T2 photo ring, you turn your eyepiece into a projective with T2 thread. The short construction has two advantages:
- Telescopes with short back focus (e.g. Newtonians) are often not suitable for focal photography. You can attach your camera mechanically, but you can't bring it into focus. With the T2 photo ring, we can guarantee that you can reach focus without problems by using an eyepiece - even with small beginner models.
- If you want to use your compact digital camera, you have to bring their objective as close as possible to the eyepiece in order to minimize vignetting. With this adapter, this aim can be reached. You get the maximum field of view that is possible.
How to adapt the photo ring T2:
Adaptation is very easy: Pull off the rubber eyeguard of your eyepiece and plug the photo ring T2 over the eyepiece. Now you can fix it with the thumbscrews and you're ready to go.
For which eyepieces is the foto ring T2 suitable?
It fits to all 1.25" eyepieces which have a rubber eyegard and a groove of ca. 31mm diameter. This is standard with the most eyepieces.
