Alter MN58 F/8
The Alter Maksutov MN58 f8 Newtonian from Intes Micro. This OTA comes with a 2" Russian Crayford focuser plus 1.25" adapter as standard (other focusers are available on request). This is the smallest model and comes with an aperture illumination optimized for visual observing. The brightness and contrast of this smallest Maksutov-Newtonian is more than a match for a good 4" apochromat. Its 1000mm focal length makes it optimally designed for giving maximum magnification with high-quality short focal length eyepieces.
Its low weight means that an inexpensive mount such as the Vixen GP H-EQ5 is suitable for it. In addition to cooling from the fan, the main mirror can be cooled using the outside air by removing a plate at the rear. Both the main mirror and secondary mirror are fully adjustable, and also the secondary mirror bracket has been modified with our models so that it can be handled and rotated without having to touch the meniscus lens with your fingers. All Intes Micro Maksutov-Newtonians have a sophisticated interior system of baffles where the complete OTA interior has been designed and equipped with baffles, and with an extra set of baffles opposite the focuser which effectively blocks any stray light from reflections within the OTA from getting into the eyepiece. The telescope has proved to be an exceptionally good CCD platform.
