HPS stands for High Precision and Speed - this mount can achieve a satellite tracking and positioning speed of 12 degrees/sec, with an average positioning accuracy of <20" and a tracking accuracy of approx 1"/15min (peak to peak).
The mount is also equipped with high-precision absolute encoders on both axes - this opens up entirely new possibilities. The mount will never lose its orientation, even if you manually move the telescope - no new alignment is necessary, even after a power failure. In portable operation, the mount is faster and easier to set up and north-align than any conventional equatorial mount.
