The Orion N 114/450 telescope:
The Star Blast is a very compact Dobsonian with surprisingly good optical performance. It offers an ideal beginner's telescope for those interested in astronomy.
The 113mm aperture collects enough light to observe nebulae and galaxies. Not just the brighter more prominent objects, such as the Orion Nebula or the Pleiades, but also hundreds of fainter objects can also be seen with this telescope. When you explore the Milky Way using the 20mm wide field eyepiece you can see a wealth of nebulae and star clusters on the star-studied backcloth of the night.
The precisely figured parabolic primary mirror also makes Lunar and planetary observing perfectly possible. The image still retains good contrast even at the magnifications of over 100X required for this.
A special feature for this class of telescope is its parabolic primary mirror, as these instruments usually have a simple spherical mirror. The advantage is a significantly sharper image, also with the Moon and planets. But also for wide field work, the sharpness is simply superior. A parabolic primary mirror is a prerequisite for a diffraction-limited image in these fast Newtonians.
The instrument is also so compact that it can easily fit into a luggage locker on a plane, for example. The Dobsonian mount is simple to set up and moves on smooth running bearings.
This idea of this instrument is simple: set it up and start observing immediately.
The advantages in a nutshell:
- fast Newtonian
- compact and uncomplicated
- parabolic main mirror
Dobsonian table top mount: stable base, extremely portable
Are 'normal' telescopes just too big for you, or are you looking for a compact instrument in particular? Dobsonian table top mount telescope makes the perfect companion as you can transport the instrument all in one piece.
Onto the table and you're ready to go
Operating the mount could not be easier, just place the telescope on a table or elevated platform.
The mount moves easily in all directions on its smooth Teflon bearings. There is no aligning necessary with this telescope: after setting it up, just line it up on an object and you will find it easy to track it, whilst marvelling at the sight of whichever planet or nebula you have in the eyepiece.
Get to know the stars
This well thought-out Dobsonian mounted telescope also has another advantage: by locating each object yourself you will get to learn the night sky much better and gradually make yourself an expert.
